ASHMORE WALKS DAY (South Coast Zone)

This day is being run to give all serious walkers the chance to compete with the opportunity to be judged by qualified officials. Thus giving the Athletes an official time for the Regional championships.

Regional Championships

Who:                               U7 to U17 age groups
Qualifying Criteria:     None
Nomination Fee:         $2.50 per event
                                        (U15 Pentathlon - $7.70
                                        + Option of 2 additional events at
                                        $2.50 each)
Nominations Close:    21 January 2012
Athletes may nominate to enter from one to a maximum of five events. Those athletes in the U9 to U17 year age groups who place first, second or third as well as those athletes who produce a qualifying performance qualify to attend the State Championships. Regrettably the U7 & U8 year age groups cannot compete at the State Championships. Points will be awarded to all Ashmore athletes who nominate and compete at this competition. All athletes who place first, second or third will be awarded medals and all U7 and U8 athletes will receive a participation medal.

JUNIOR CARNIVAL/SENIOR PENTATHLON

Nomination Fee:                  $2.50 per event

Junior athletes only may nominate to enter from one to a maximum of five events. All athletes in the relevant age groups are encouraged to attend this Carnival which is designed to give all athletes, regardless of ability, the opportunity to compete in a major event at a high quality facility.

Senior athletes only can enter the Pentathlon.

ASHMORE CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Who:                                       U6 to U17 age groups
Qualifying Criteria:              Registered Athlete of the Ashmore Little Athletics Centre. However, to be eligible to break Centre Best Performances you must have attended 50% of all Saturday Competition days between the athletes sign on date and the close of nominations for this event.
Nomination Fee:                  $12.00 per Athlete
Nominations Close:            4 March 2012
This competition is held at the Ashmore Oval and is open to all athletes in our Centre who have gained the qualifying criteria. Athletes may nominate to enter from one to a maximum of five events. This is the onlyday that our Centre Best Performances can be bettered. Every athlete who competes in our Centre Championships will receive a participation award (trophy/plaque) that lists their performance for the competition. These awards are presented at our Presentation Day.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS

AUSTRALIAN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

Who:                                       U13 age group only
Qualifying Criteria:             by selection only (all athletes to have attended 60% of Centre competition days)
This is the national level competition where all the State and Territory Associations compete. The Queensland Team would normally consist of 11 boys and 11 girls. A selection process determines the Queensland team. A team of selectors assess the U13 age group athletes’ performances throughout the season at Zone and State competitions; they then make their final selections after the State Championships. An U15 Pentathlon squad is also selected for the team.

ASHMORE END OF SEASON PRESENTATION DAY

All registered athletes of the Ashmore Little Athletics Centre and their families are invited to attend this afternoon. There are free giveaways for the athletes and trophies will be awarded to all athletes who participated in the Centre Championships day.
