COMPETITIONS 2009/2010

Parents: Your child’s goal within Little Athletics should be to constantly improve their performance rather than to win.  One proven method of improving performances is to attend as many competitions as possible.  Listed below is the range of competitions available, this list is a guide only and full details of each competition will be posted on our notice boards as the season progresses.

CENTRE COMPETITION
Date / Time:                  See Calendar of Events

Location:                       Ashmore Oval
Who:                              U6 to U17 age groups
Nomination Fee:          FREE

This is our normal Saturday Centre level competition.  The Ashmore Centre operates a set program based on five events per week in a six week rotation. This program has been developed by the Management Committee and is operating successfully in its present form. It is Ashmore Centre’s policy to run our competition days ‘to the program’ even if there are minor delays at some events.  If, during the day, changes are required they must be approved by the Arena Manager / Centre Manager.

OTHER CENTRES’ COMPETITION
If you are on holidays in another area of Queensland or Interstate and you still wish to compete, then most Centres will welcome you.  In most cases it will be as simple as turning up at the venue and approaching the Centre Manager.  If you are in any doubt contact the State body for the closest Centre’s details and confirm their requirements by phone.  Athletes must wear their full uniform when competing at another Centre.

CENTRE LEVEL CARNIVALS
Many Centres throughout the State organise and run their own Carnivals. There is a large variety of programs on offer, so athletes can attend the Carnivals that have events to suit them. These Carnivals are a great family outing and give athletes the opportunity to make new friends in a fun environment. There are different nomination requirements and fees for each Carnival so check the details posted on our notice boards. Our Nominations Officer should also be able to answer any of your questions.
